I’ve fallen a bit behind on my blog posts, and would like to apologize to any of my readers looking for updates. My time here in Saint Vincent is coming to an end soon. I’m not going to lie, as excited as I am to go home and see my family, I’m also feeling sad about having to say goodbye to the island and people here.
In terms of work I am currently at crop protection. At crop protection, the current project is to create a soil map for Saint Vincent. There are two soil related projects going on, one led by the Taiwanese, and one based out of Florida. I have been able to do everything from work in the lab, along with go out with the GPS taking soil samples. I would consider myself pretty fit, but the landscape in the area we were working was challenging if I do say so myself.
I am just about done my food safety guide. I need to make some minor changes and review it once again. I have transformed the first copy I put together earlier in the work term into a more enjoyable guide I hope the students will want to read.
Carnival just came to an end yesterday. Vincy people are crazy! I swear they don’t need sleep. A lot of carnival week I had to focus on meeting my deadlines, but I did participate in Carnival Monday and Tuesday. The interns who also study at Dalhousie and are living on Union came and stayed with us on Mainland to celebrate Carnival Monday. On the Tuesday, I participated in Mas. This is what you think of when you think of carnival with the very large and extravagant costumes. I’m really glad I decided to participate last minute.
